2019 Scholarships Available

The Puget Sound Engineering & Science Scholarship Fund (PSE&SSF) has initiated their college scholarship program for 2019. Completed scholarship applications will be accepted during the scholarship application acceptance period (February 08, 2019 through April 12, 2019).

Here’s an overview of the scholarships being awarded in 2019. They are broken into four(4) categories:

1)PSE&SSF College Scholarships (for graduating High School Seniors)

2)SAME Seattle Post College Scholarship (for graduating High School Seniors)

3)SAME Seattle Post Member-sponsored Scholarship (for full-time college students working towards their undergraduate degree OR graduating High School Seniors; sponsored by SAME Seattle Post Member)

4)PSE&SSF Named Scholarship

  • Shannon & Wilson Civil Engineering Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate University of Washington students majoring in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department.
  • Wood, PLC Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate University of Washington students majoring in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department OR a discipline within the School of Environmental and Forest.
  • Innovex Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate students majoring in an Engineering discipline.
  • Scholarship In Memory of Stephen Manthey: For current full-time undergraduate students majoring in a STEM discipline (preference will be given to an Architecture major and or a woman student)
  • WSP Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate student at a Washington State accredited college/university majoring in an Engineering discipline (preference will be given to diversity).
  • Terracon Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate students majoring in a Civil Engineering discipline.
  • Landau Associates Scholarship: For current full-time undergraduate students majoring in a STEM discipline.
  • Reid Middleton Scholarship:For current full-time undergraduate students majoring in a STEM discipline.

PSE&SSF College Scholarship (for High School Seniors graduating in spring of 2019)*: The applicant must be a US citizen accepted into a full-time program of study towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in engineering, science, technology, or a related field at an accredited college or university. Currently, six $1,000 PSE&SSF College Scholarships will be awarded to graduating High School Seniors that will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall of 2019.
 

SAME Seattle Post College Scholarship (for High School Seniors graduating in spring of 2019)*: The applicant must be a US citizen accepted into a full-time program of study towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in engineering, science, technology, or a related field at an accredited college or university. Currently, $15,250 in college scholarships (1 High School scholarship at valued at $1,500 and 12 High School scholarships valued at $1,000 each) will be awarded to graduating High School Seniors that will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall of 2019. The SAME Seattle Post College Scholarship breakout and allocation is as follows:

  • One scholarship award valued at $1,750.
  • One scholarship award valued at $1,500.
  • Twelve scholarship awards valued at $1,000 each.

SAME Seattle Post Member-sponsored Scholarship**: The applicant must be a US citizen sponsored by a SAME Seattle Post Member. The applicant may be either currently enrolled as a full-time college student in pursuit of their undergraduate degree OR be a graduating High School Senior. The applicant must be enrolled in or be accepted into a full-time program of study towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in engineering, science, technology, or a related field at an accredited college or university. If a graduating senior, the applicant must have graduated from or be scheduled to graduate from an accredited High School, public or private, in 2019. Currently, $15,250 in scholarships will be awarded to Post Member-sponsored applicants. Applicants who are dependents of Seattle Post Members (i.e., family members within the third degree of kindred***) will be given preference. The SAME Seattle Post Member-sponsored Scholarship breakout and allocation is as follows:

  • One scholarship award valued at $3,000.
  • One scholarship award valued at $2,750.
  • Two scholarship awards valued at $2,500 each.
  • Two scholarship awards valued at $2,250 each.

In addition, sponsored candidates who are graduating High School Seniors will automatically be considered for SAME Seattle Post College Scholarships and PSE&SSF College Scholarships. Furthermore, sponsored candidates who are full-time college students will automatically be considered for PSE&SSF College Scholarships.

* Applicant must be a High School Senior that is graduating from a private or public high school located within one of the State of Washington counties bordering the Puget Sound, which include Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Kitsap, Pierce, Thurston, Mason, Jefferson, Clallam, Island, and San Juan. Home-schooled applicants must also reside within one of the listed State of Washington counties.

** Applicant must be sponsored by a SAME Seattle Post Member and must be a graduating High School Senior OR a currently enrolled college student. Applicants who are dependents of Seattle Post Members (i.e., family members within the third degree of kindred***) will be given preference. In addition, sponsored candidates who are graduating High School Seniors will automatically be considered for SAME Seattle Post College Scholarships and PSE&SSF College Scholarships. Furthermore, sponsored candidates who are full-time college students will automatically be considered for PSE&SSF College Scholarships.

The final number and amount of scholarships may be adjusted based on the number and quality of the applications as well as additional funds which may become available.

4. PSE&SSF Named Scholarships:

Shannon & Wilson Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate University of Washington students): The applicant must be a full-time University of Washington student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington).
 

  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a University of Washington student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department into the fall of 2019.



  •  

b. Wood, PLC Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate University of Washington students): The applicant must be a full-time University of Washington student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department OR a discipline within the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department OR a discipline within the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington).

  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a University of Washington student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in a discipline within the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department OR a discipline within the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences into the fall of 2019.
     

    c. Innovex Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate Engineering students): The applicant must be a full-time Engineering student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a discipline within an Engineering School at an accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a discipline within an Engineering School program at an accredited college/university).

  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to an Engineering student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in discipline within an Engineering School at an accredited college/university into the fall of 2019.



  •  

d. Scholarship In Memory of Stephen Manthey (for current full-time undergraduate STEM major students): The applicant must be a full-time student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a STEM discipline within an accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a STEM discipline within accredited college/university).

  • One (1) $1,000 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate STEM degree in a discipline within an accredited college/university into the fall of 2019. Preference will be given to an Architecture major and/or a woman student.



  •  

e. WSP Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate Engineering students): The applicant must be a full-time student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in an Engineering discipline within a Washington State accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in an Engineering discipline within a Washington State accredited college/university).

  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in an Engineering discipline within a Washington State accredited college/university into the fall of 2019. Preference will be given to student diversity.
     

f. Terracon Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate Civil Engineering students) : The applicant must be a full-time Engineering student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a discipline within a Civil Engineering Department at an accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a discipline within a Civil Engineering Department at an accredited college/university).

 
  • One (1) $4,000 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to an Engineering student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in a discipline within Civil Engineering Department at an accredited college/university into the fall of 2019.



  •  

g. Landau Associates Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate STEM major students): The applicant must be a full-time student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a STEM discipline within an accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a STEM discipline within accredited college/university).

 
  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate STEM degree in a discipline within an accredited college/university into the fall of 2019.



  •  

h. Reid Middleton Scholarship (for current full-time undergraduate STEM major students): The applicant must be a full-time student who is majoring (either accepted or currently enrolled) in a STEM discipline within an accredited college/university (i.e., seeking a Bachelor of Science [BS] Degree in a STEM discipline within accredited college/university).

 
  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship award is available for 2019 and will be awarded to a student who continues the pursuit of an undergraduate STEM degree in a discipline within an accredited college/university into the fall of 2019.

2)   You will have the ability to upload an electronic copy of your academic transcript for submittal within the online application form.  If possible, please attach a transcript that includes grades from your Fall 2018 semester.

 
  • If an applicant wishes to submit an updated academic transcript after submitting the completed online application form (with initially attached electronic transcript) as designated in the step above, it can be as long as it is submitted electronically by  Friday, April 12, 2019.  Please email the updated transcript to member@psessf.org.  Please provide your full name, home address, phone number, and school in the body of the email to ensure that your data file is accurately selected and your transcript is replaced with the newly updated transcript.

  • No hard copy applications will be accepted.  Only completed applications and transcripts utilizing the  wufoo.com  link above will be accepted.
     

    3)   Follow these online application form guidelines to ensure accurate completion as well as a maximum possible score.
     

  • Please review the entire Application Form before completing it.  This will allow you (the scholarship applicant) to be fully knowledgeable of all data elements required to complete the Form.
    A scholarship applicant may want to complete Application Form field entries first within a Microsoft Word document, as one WILL NOT have the ability to save any information within this Form before submitting it.  This will also allow the scholarship applicant to perform spelling and grammar checks.
    All field entries marked with a red asterisk are mandatory data elements within the Application Form.
    When entering data into some form fields, highlighted guidance in light gray will show to the right of the form field. Please use this guidance when completing that form field.
    Because there is NO save feature, the scholarship applicant must complete the entire Application Form at one time.
    Please review your application for clarity and completeness before pressing the " SUBMIT " button at the bottom of the Application Form.
     

Completed scholarship applications will only be accepted during the scholarship application acceptance period (February 08, 2019 through April 12, 2019).
